Dart Rules

Darts is not a game of chance but one of physics, spatial relations, trajectory and yes, a little bit of luck. If you have good hand-eye coordination, you just might have the makings of a good dart player. Of course, if you want to play, you are going to have to learn some dart rules.

Basic Rules Of Darts

When it comes to dart game rules, the ones we follow today closely resemble those that were devised hundreds of years ago. You have two players or teams. After warming up, based on rules for darts, each side has to throw one dart. The dart closest to the bulls eye gets to take the first turn.

According to darts rules and regulations, each player throws three darts on their turn. If the player crosses over a predetermined line when throwing, the points earned don’t count. In addition, a dart does not count for points if it falls off the board or strikes and gets stuck on another dart.

According to official dart rules, each wedge counts for a certain number of points. However, there are rings on the board too. So if a dart lands within the outer, most narrow ring, the player gets double the points as indicated within that wedge area. If the dart lands within the inner narrow ring, the player will get triple points as indicated by the wedge value. The outside part of the bull’s eye will earn 25 points to the player according to dart regulations. If the inner bull’s eye is hit by a dart, that player earns an automatic 50 points.

There are also dart rules for special game called baseball darts. Many standard dart boards you buy today will have a baseball dart game on the flip side. There are certain baseball dart rules for this game as well. You can bet however, that the baseball darts rules are similar to the game of baseball!
