Trap Shooting

Trap shooting is a popular competitive shooting sport that has been around for several hundred years. Skeet and trap shooting are similar in that both sports involve shooting at flying clay targets. However, with trap shooting, there is only one trap shooting station and the shooters move in five different positions during the competition.

The popular form of trap shooting in North America is American Trap. This version is approved and governed by the ATA trap shooting or Amateur Trapshooting Association. Of course, trap shooters who want to compete in the Olympics must learn the Olympic Trap version. Both men and women in trap shooting can compete in this event. There is also a Double Trap version of the competition and is only open to men in the next Olympics.

If you want some trap shooting advice, choose a 12 gauge single or double barrel shotgun as it will have more power than a lower gauge. Too much power is wasted.
